Pixel Watch 4 and Buds 2a have actually user replaceable batteries
Google have had their fair share of hardware issues over the years (and very recently 😬), but I absolutely love that both the Pixel Watch 4 and Buds 2a’s battery case have been designed to have their batteries replaced with simple tools and very little seeming complexity. This is such a user friendly move and comes without any reduction in water resistance (in the case of the Watch). If I was in the market for an Android watch, this could absolutely swing the deal for me.
Cringey videos aside, it’s genuinely brilliant that Apple are planting forests and investing heavily to make their business carbon neutral. But I’d still like to see them doing much more to increase re-use of their devices. I recently upgraded from a Series 7 Watch to a Series 10 because it just made more sense to spend £180 on a new Watch (with trade in) instead of £100 on a battery replacement. I don’t really notice the upgrade day to day and honestly was completely happy with my Series 7, aside from the reduced battery life.
